ACTS 1: Join together
Join us this month as we continue our journey through the Bible and travel with Jesus’ followers through the Book of Acts. It’s an exciting adventure full of twists and turns. We’ll read a chapter a day. I’ll provide a link to the chapter in the NIV(UK) version, but you can read the chapter in whatever version you like. I’ll then share some short reflections, but the important part is the last part: ACTION. Let’s start acting on what we are reading. Join me in one small act inspired each day by the chapter for that day.
Are you up for the challenge?
Then let’s begin!
READ: Acts 1
REFLECTION: Things change. Things have changed massively for Jesus’ disciples. They could have remained stuck in the past, wishing things were still as they were when Jesus was on earth, living and teaching and healing. They could just sit and wait for what was to come, this injection of power that Jesus promised would come. But the angels say ‘Why are you still standing here?’
Don’t get stuck in the past. Use the past as a foundation to inform the present. Don’t wait for something to happen in the future. Use that hope and vision for a better future to fuel the present.
ACTION: Join Together
Find a way to join together today with others who share your faith and vision.
It may be in a formal gathering or over a cup of tea or in an online conversation…We need each other to support us to live in the present moment, informed by the past and inspired by the future. Thank God for those you consider to be your special people : your tribe/crew/support group/faith family/fellow pilgrims/sangha/gang…whatever you choose to call them.
If you feel isolated and alone, pray, as the disciples did in this chapter, for God to identify a special person for you and point you in their direction.
