ACTS 20: Follow a path
We’re over half way through this journey through the Book of Acts – it’s certainly quite a ride!
If you’re just joining us, welcome aboard! We’re reading a chapter a day and I’m providing a link to the chapter in the NIV(UK) version, but you can of course read the chapter in whatever version you like. I’ve been sharing some short reflections, but the important part is the last part: ACTION.
I wonder how you’ve been getting on with the short challenges I’ve been setting…
READ: Acts 20
REFLECTION: Paul’s heading for Jerusalem. Everywhere he goes, he faces the possibility of hardship and opposition and persecution, but this feels different. He has a sense that he’s never going to see these people again, these people he’s lived amongst and developed a relationship with and who he’s seen grow in their faith.
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
But this is his motivation. This is what keeps him going. His life is meaningless if he does not fulfil the task he’s been given.
We all have a path to follow. It may not be the path we would have chosen. We might have preferred an easier path. But true fulfilment is found in following our path wherever it leads. Life is meaningless without that.
ACTION: Follow a path
Take a walk and follow a path. Use that path as a walking meditation to consider the path you’re on in your life right now. What does this path feel like? Is this even right path for you? Are you doing what you were created to do? And if it is the right path, pray for the strength and courage and determination that Paul had to walk that path and finish the race.
