ACTS 22: Tell your story
So here we are on the final stretch of this journey through the Book of Acts – it’s certainly quite a ride!
We continue to read a chapter a day and I’ll provide a link to the chapter in the NIV(UK) version, but you can of course read the chapter in whatever version you like. I’ve been sharing some short reflections, but the important part is the last part: ACTION.
Just a week of these challenges left – I wonder what challenges are in store for us!
READ: Acts 22
REFLECTION: This is Paul’s story. The people have made assumptions about him. It’s important that they hear the truth about who he really is, where he has come from and how he got to where he is now. He is a Jew just like them. Except he has been transformed by an encounter with the living God. They get that – right to the point where he talks about his commitment to taking the good news to the Gentiles. That’s the trigger for them to go crazy!
Paul’s identity is important when he is arrested and about to be flogged too. The fact that he is a Roman citizen is key. When he announces that he was born a Roman citizen, the commander will no longer hold him. He has no choice but to release him.
ACTION: Tell your story
It’s important for others to know the truth about who we really are, where we’ve come from and how we got to where we are now.
So get together with a friend or partner and take it in turns to tell the story of your faith journey. If you’re unable to do that, then write it down. Don’t overthink it. Just write it as you would say it.
It’s a really good reminder to each one of us too to realise just how far we have come in our walk with God and our understanding of the divine.
