ACTS 26: Ten acts of kindness
So here we are on the final stretch of this journey through the Book of Acts – it’s certainly quite a ride!
We continue to read a chapter a day and I’ll provide a link to the chapter in the NIV(UK) version, but you can of course read the chapter in whatever version you like. I’ve been sharing some short reflections, but the important part is the last part: ACTION.
Just a week of these challenges left – I wonder what challenges are in store for us!
READ: Acts 26
REFLECTION: “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”
If you persecute my people, then you persecute me.
Remember what Jesus said when he was alive ….
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was ill and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison and go to visit you?”
The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:35-40
If you feed others, then you feed me.
If you give a drink to others, you give a drink to me.
If you invite others in, you invite me in.
If you look after others when they are ill, you look after me.
If you visit others in prison, you visit me.
Conversely, if you ignore the needs of others, you ignore me.
If you separate yourself from others, you separate yourself from me.
If you treat others badly, you treat me badly.
If we really believed this and really took it on board, how different would our lives be?! How different would our world be?!
ACTION: Ten acts of kindness
Kindness. Let’s not make it random. Let’s make it intentional.
Let’s go out of our way today to perform ten acts of kindness to others.
And then do it again tomorrow. And the next day.
Let it become more than ten. Let it become the norm. Let it be our habit all day everyday to treat others with kindness and respect and love. For it is in the way we treat others that we show how we treat Jesus.
