ACTS 9: Explore transformation
We’re well into this journey through the Book of Acts and it’s proving to be an exciting adventure full of twists and turns. We’re reading a chapter a day and I’m providing a link to the chapter in the NIV(UK) version, but you can of course read the chapter in whatever version you like. I’ve been sharing some short reflections, but the important part is the last part: ACTION. How have you been getting on with the short daily challenges so far?
Are you up for today’s challenge?
Then let’s continue!
READ: Acts 9
REFLECTION: People can change. If Saul can, anyone can. Saul has the original Damascus road experience. He’s stopped in his tracks by an encounter with the living God. He’s blinded by the light, by the truth of who God is. This must be crushing for the man who believed he was doing God’s work in persecuting these Christians and is now finding out that these Christians have got it right all along. God is with them. God is for them.
No one else understands what’s going on. They’re suspicious. It’s hard to see past his reputation. It’s hard to grasp why God would be choosing this man as his chosen instrument to tell others about him.
He baffled the Jews. They can’t forget what Saul has said and done in the past. Neither can the disciples at first. The Jews plot to kill him – here’s another one who needs silencing. What could be more dangerous than a man as infamous and notorious as Saul undergoing a complete transformation?
ACTION: Explore transformation and believe in change
Take some time today to explore transformation. Get out in nature and notice all the changes that are going on in the natural world right now.
Reflect on light and experiment with light. See what a difference light can make.
Consider your own journey – how much you have changed in the last year/ten years and what has led to those changes.
You may want to express your reflections in words, images, a collage…
Believe in change.
