Be like Paul #11: SHARING
INTRODUCTION: We all need role models in the faith. In 1 Corinthians 4:16, Paul says ‘Therefore I urge you to imitate me.’ Now Paul may not seem the obvious choice as a role model. Paul’s had a bad press for some of the things he’s said, statements that have been taken out of context and used to promote prejudice and condemnation. However, Paul’s passion for the good news of the Jesus story can be an inspiration to us all and so this month, we’re using the ‘Be like Bob’ meme that went viral on Facebook last year as a framework for our journey through 2 Corinthians.
Be like Paul.
INSPIRATION: 2 Corinthians 8:1-9:5
THIS IS PAUL
Paul is into sharing: we share what we have with those who do not.
Paul gets that it’s not just about looking out for yourself, your own family, community or church.
We are all in this together, interconnected and interdependent.
BE LIKE PAUL
VERSES OF THE DAY:
Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.” 2 Corinthians 8:13-15
