Be like Paul #15: STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS
INTRODUCTION: We all need role models in the faith. In 1 Corinthians 4:16, Paul says ‘Therefore I urge you to imitate me.’ Now Paul may not seem the obvious choice as a role model. Paul’s had a bad press for some of the things he’s said, statements that have been taken out of context and used to promote prejudice and condemnation. However, Paul’s passion for the good news of the Jesus story can be an inspiration to us all and so this month, we’re using the ‘Be like Bob’ meme that went viral on Facebook last year as a framework for our journey through 2 Corinthians.
Be like Paul.
INSPIRATION: 2 Corinthians 12
THIS IS PAUL
Paul has that ‘thorn in his flesh’, that personal thing that makes his life unbearable at times.
But when he is weak, that’s when he can see God’s power at work in him the most.
Paul has a positive take on suffering.
BE LIKE PAUL
VERSES OF THE DAY:
God said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10
